New Sustainable Land Development Graduate Program

Dr. Shealy is the coordinator for the new Sustainable Land Development graduate program within the Civil and Environmental Department. The program is designed for interdisciplinary learning. The program will offer a number of elective courses for students to explore how sustainability, planning, and engineering design work together in multiple ways and through multiple course options.

Dr. Shealy helped establish the program because of the recognized need for more adaptive, highly skilled engineers with expertise in sustainable design and coordination. Students in the program learn how principles of sustainability are interwoven within the context of a site plan and a larger comprehensive plan, which are critical when considering how new development or redevelopment contributes to the community, regional, and global societal needs today and in the future.

You can read more about the program on the departmental website and for prospective students.
