Today, several lab members practiced setting up a new experiment, which is part of the NSF project titled Collaborative Research: Novel neurocognitive assessment of engineering education interventions applied to systems thinking. The project implements both fNIRS and eye-tracking to understand students' ability to think in systems. The pictures and videos give you a sense of the different measurements the team is collecting. Working with multiple data collection tools to capture human cognition is challenging and takes a lot of practice! There are a lot of sets and multiple prompts to provide to participants. We hope to integrate more of these techniques into future studies as we perfect data collection with fNIRS and eye-tracking together.
